Why are my drawings successful?

What makes the drawing successful and what it communicates to the viewer?

I feel that my drawings are successful for a couple of reasons. The techniques used were executed in a way that shows more the object in its entirety. This means that the drawings, although stuck to a 2d medium, they display the 3 dimensionality of the objects. In the gesture drawing of the water bottle, you can see where the bottle is thinner verse wider and that its a round object because of the circular motions presenting the bottle. While the combination of techniques, including: drawing the negative place, contour and graphic blending, make the water bottle and zippo lighter not only pop out of the page because of the contour, but the shadows give them a 3d aspect that the object has. The very first drawing of the water bottle if feel is a carefully drawn sketch of the water bottle showing a very accurate depiction of the object.
